To coincide with the launch of our new website, as some of you know, we changed the company name. RYG Films started out life as Raise Your Glass Films. During our first three years in business, we built up a good portfolio of work and reputation under the company name that was only ever intended to film weddings. Little did we know that when we filed the form for Companies House, that very quickly the business would attract way more interest from other businesses, leaving us little time for anything else.
It took us over a year to take the plunge and officially change the name. Despite knowing that ‘Raise Your Glass Films’ was not emblematic of the type of work we were creating, there were a few reasons why it took us so long to address it. Firstly, we simply didn’t know what to change it to. Secondly, the company has a big digital footprint and it has taken a lot of time to get it all updated. Thirdly, some of us were very much attached to the company name and so from a sentimental point of view, it was difficult to say farewell.
It is partly because of this attachment that we chose a name connected to the company’s roots. Fortuitously, the anacronym R.Y.G is pronounced ‘rig’ and RYG Films conjures up more robust, hardworking, and technically focused imagery. Our clients are often impressed by our attention to detail and how dedicated we are. Our clients feel that they are in safe hands due to our solid work ethic and structured process. RYG Films represents these attributes and from a practical point of view, it is a much shorter name.
